Dear Prince Charming,
I'm just barely in between where no one wants to date me because dating has become "serious" and they're looking for a future companion or they're getting ready to leave on a mission. If it's the first, they'll be interested in me, and talk with me, and I've even gone on dates with three different returned missionaries now. But then there are other guys that I'll talk to, they ask how old I am (the guys I've gone on dates with, only one asked me my age... My maturity level is pretty high for my age, so I act older than I am) and then they're no longer interested. I highly doubt the other two RM's, now that they know my age, will ask me on a second date. Even though the dates were absolutely wonderful fun, and I really liked getting to know them. :) (Especially this guy named Mike - he was super sweet, and very fun to be around. :) )
See, I'm 18. Everyone my age is leaving on missions. Everyone else in my ward or back from their missions are looking for someone older that will actually want to be getting married, if it works out. Marriage I am NOT ready for yet. Besides, as everyone in my ward exclaims when they discover I'm only 18, "Oh! You're just a baby still!!!" Yes, yes I am. One that's more mature than her 26 year old roommate (according to my roommate).
So I'm not looking for marriage - and I, unlike so many of my peers growing up, actually know I have never been in love, and have not mistaken really liking someone for being in love. But as my younger sister put it, "You would make a good girlfriend." (She then proceeded to list my attributes that qualified me to be one) But what experience is teaching me, I am more qualified to JUST be a "best friend."
I'm in between ages where it just doesn't work out either way.
Logically, I can't decide if it would be good or not for my relationship with you to be my first one. In ways, it'd be like dating around, finding one flavor I like and never seriously giving any other "flavors" a better chance at being my favorite. I want to know what it's like... But at the same time, OW. I don't know if I want to go through the pain of losing multiple relationships.
But know that no matter what, YOU are the one I chose. (Yes, this blog is directly addressed to whomever I end up married to - not those along the way. I've liked guys, I've had to move on. This is NOT addressed to those along the way. That's why I stick with the name "Prince Charming" - because Addressing it to someone I will NOT. Not even when I DO get into my first relationship...)
Anyway. Just expressing my frustration at being in between, where no one *really* wants to date you....
Only Yours,
Your Princess
A Damsel Caught In Between
