I Said Yes!! ... Twice!

Dear Prince Charming,

This past week has been the most incredible, unbelievable, amazing time of my life that I have known up to this point. This week you asked me to marry you twice. Which will be quite the funny thing to tell our kids someday, even if I DID say yes both times. The first one is the one you'll probably remember as the time we became engaged. The second time I actually got the ring, & that's the story every one else has been given. Personally, I think I like the first proposal. Neither of us were expecting you to ask me to marry you that day.

We had just heard your parents fight over the phone, and we were driving back home. We were talking about their divorce and the influence it had on your family. When I finally looked up from my lap to your face, I noticed that you were crying. Short of crying myself, I was aching inside, wishing I could come across the right words to comfort you and let you know that I understood and was going to always be here for you. We ended up detouring on a drive that brought us to the temple. You came around and opened my door and we walked to the temple and stood in front of the gates, which were closed. I held you as you cried and wished I knew what to say. Fumbling, I tried to reassure you that everything was going to be okay. This was vague, since I meant both for your family and for us. "That's not what I'm really scared of..." After a while I asked, "What are you worried about?"
"Liz, we're about to jump off of a cliff... And I don't have to wonder if there are sharp rocks at the bottom. I know there are. I'm just so scared that, when we hit them, that we'll fall apart. I want so badly for it to be so that with God and each other, we'll be able to hold tight enough that we won't fall apart. That we'll stick together. That's what I want most."

"Thank you for being here for me."
"I always will be."
I can't completely remember everything I said. But I tried to let you know that, yes, I'm scared too. But God never said it was going to be easy. He did say it was going to be worth it though. And I'm willing to work hard. I'd learned what not to do from my parents & I wasn't going to go down the road my parents took. That I believed that we could do it.
After a while, you said, "You know, I really don't know what I did to deserve you."
"I hope you know I am by far not perfect. I'm going to mess up. We're probably going to have arguments. But I'm going to try my hardest, and I'm not afraid to work hard."
"Don't get me wrong; I know you're not perfect. I know you have flaws."
"Good."
"But, in that way, you are. You're this amazing, beautiful daughter of God. And you have so much faith and trust in your Father in Heaven ."

After a pause, you said that you had one regret about that night.
"What's that?"
"That I don't have your ring in my car right now... *pause* Elizabeth Anne Gibson, will you marry me?"
"Yes."

A couple of days later, you took me up to Battle Creek Canyon, where we went on our first date. At the top of the falls a bouquet of roses and lilies and a picnic lunch waited for us. I walked closer to them, and then you got down to get them. However, before you got anything, you got down on one knee and said, "Elizabeth Gibson... Elizabeth Anne Gibson, will you marry me?" I don't know if my yes was very audible or not. But I guess it worked, because then you were sliding the ring onto my finger and then you kissed me.

I love you, Andrew. I can't wait to spend eternity with you :) December 16th seems both so far away and so close! I still can't quite believe that I'm getting married...

Love You Always,
Your Princess
A Damsel in Dreaming
